What to Expect When Building a Custom Home
Our Processs
Building a new home is a major decision. At Yingst Custom Homes, we make sure it’s an exciting, rewarding journey. Here’s what you can expect:
Step 1
Dream and Discuss
Your journey begins with a one-on-one meeting with a Yingst Custom Homes sales manager. We'll sit down together to discuss your vision, your needs, your budget, and your preferred location. Whether you have a complete design in mind or are starting from scratch, we’ll help you bring your ideas to life
Step 2
Plan and Price
We work closely with you to refine your home’s design and layout. As we shape the details from layout changes to optional features, we’ll provide a preliminary estimate to help you align your vision with your budget.
Step 3
Finalize Your Home Design
Once your design feels just right, we move into final drawings and establish a firm price for your new home. At this point, you'll review everything carefully before signing the contract to officially move forward.
Step 4
Secure Financing and Permits
You’ll work with your lender to secure your financing, while Yingst Homes handles the necessary permits to prepare for construction. We’ll keep you informed every step of the way to ensure a smooth transition into the building phase.
Step 5
Personalize Your Selections
Here’s where your home truly starts to feel like yours! You’ll meet with our design coordinator to choose all your home’s interior and exterior selections, from cabinetry and countertops to flooring and siding. We'll provide guidance to make sure your choices match your style, needs, and budget
Step 6
Site Meeting and Groundbreaking
Before construction begins, you'll meet with your builder onsite to discuss house placement, site-specific considerations, and what to expect once building is underway. After this meeting, construction officially kicks off!
Step 7
Framing and Rough-Ins
As your home begins to take shape, you’ll have the opportunity to walk through the framed structure and meet with our team to review the locations for electrical outlets, lighting, plumbing, and HVAC systems, making sure everything is exactly where you want it.
Step 8
Finishing Touches and Pre-Settlement Walkthrough
With all systems in place, we move into finishes. This includes paint, trim, cabinetry, flooring, and more. Before move-in, we’ll schedule a pre-settlement walkthrough to review the home together and address any final details.
Step 9
Settlement and Move-In
The big day is here! During your settlement, we’ll present your official Yingst Homes Warranty and Service Policy, answer any final questions, and hand over the keys to your brand-new home.
